MORGAN

How do you and Luella have fun together?

We have lots of things we enjoy together, recently it’s archery, painting, drawing, reading, cooking. Going for little adventure hikes in the bush… we have lots of shared interests which makes it easy for us to have fun together.

Is there a life lesson that your Dad taught you, that you hope to pass on to Luella?

My Dad taught me to be patient and believe in myself. Expect the best but be ready for the worst, and I hope to pass this to Luella as it’s been useful for me.

Covid has meant some parents haven’t been able to be with their children often, what are some tips you’ve learnt to stay connected as a Dad?

We were separated during Covid and it was really hard on us both, we kept in touch with chatting apps but you miss so much when you’re not really face to face. It was quite hard to get from Bali to Australia but it’s been worth it. Never give up on trying to find ways to connect when you are separated by force.

What has been your favourite memory as a Dad so far?

This is really hard to answer as there are many precious moments, I can’t say I value one over another - for me being a Dad is the most fun and significant aspect of my life. I have learnt so much and had so much fun.

How do you, Ace and Mia have fun together?

Well I’m happy supporting both equally and I do that by supporting what our son Ace finds fun, from fishing with our rods, to cooking.

We make pizza with fresh dough and homemade pasta from scratch -nothing seems a hassle as we both love the work and time it takes, and the flavour is always so good.

Fun with Mia is playing ping pong, she’s really good haha, and reading. Sometimes being a silly dad trying to imitate tik tok videos before she goes to sleep, as long as she’s happy I’m very grateful!

“I’ve taught my children to get to know people, how it’s important to be aware of others' feelings.”

Which lessons that you learnt from your own Dad will you pass down to Ace & Mia?

My Dad was very open to talking to anyone - this really opened my eyes to his relaxed style.

I’ve taught my children to get to know people, how it’s important to be aware of others' feelings.

What has been your favourite memory as a Dad so far?

Lots of memories, I think travelling with them and seeing how they are with different people.

They are going to make decisions for themselves soon and I want the best for them, but I’m hopeful they will do that.

I hope they tell me what’s going on in their lives too…well most things!

KYLE

How do you and your boys have fun together?

Our boys are both very physical (our house can feel pretty small at times!) and I love getting down on the floor and letting them climb all over me.

A good ol’ tickle session is worked into our nightly routine – it’s a nice chance to reconnect with them after work and it helps use up the last of their energy before bed!

Which lessons that you learnt from your own Dad will you pass down to Jules & Ike?

My dad taught me that looking after your relationships with family, friends and the community is really important.

We never had loads of money or things growing up, but we always seemed to have loads of people at our house! I had the best childhood because I had a village of people who cared for me, and this is something that I want for my boys too.

What has been your favourite memory as a Dad so far?

I’m not sure if I have a favourite memory per se. My favourite thing about being a dad (as cheesy as it sounds) is how I feel about being a dad.

The interesting thing about it all is that when I look back, the good times are of course amazing, but the more challenging times are also somehow amazing.

I’m just a proud dad who is stoked to be on this journey, watching as our two little babies transform into the coolest dudes.
